The Silly Season

I have just attended my last show for the year is. Mittagong was on today I had a good day it was good catching up with everyone before Christmas.
Time to sit back now and relax with just a few things to do before Christmas is upon us.
Let me see there is a project for Bear Creations, the house to decorate, the tree to trim, the family Christmas lunch  to plan, presents to buy, presents to make for family and friends (I like to make as many of my gifts as I can ), 3 secret Santa presents to organise and a Partridge in a pear tree. Yep definitely time to relax !!
It really is the Silly Season.
Cheers

Home from the Woodend show

Arrived home this afternoon from attending the Woodend show for the first time had an absolute blast.

We decided to make a road trip out of it and I travelled with my good friend Raewyn . We took the return trip over two days and indulged in some much deserved retail therapy on the way  (although I do have to say Raewyn indulged a bit more than me).

Thanks to Kerri and her many helpers for the effort put into making this a fantastic show. Even though the weather was against them (arctic temperature and heavy rain) the show was an unmitigated success, not an easy task.

I for one will be back  next year, can't wait. Although next year I will be better prepared for the cold Victorion weather and perhaps not turn blue.

Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight, there's no place like home.

Babushka bears !!

It has been on my to do list for a long time to make a set of Babushka bears. I just love the Babushka dolls especially the older more rustic ones.

One of my friends has a few sets of quite old Russian dolls dressed in simple peasant style clothing. One of these sets was my inspiration for my Babushka bears.

This is the set of  3 Babushkas.  I just loved there simplicity (excuse the photo it was taken on my phone).
Below is my version ( in bear form ) of these gorgeous girls. Hope you like them they are 2 1/2",2" and 1 1/2"

In case you missed it click on the link further down my page to participate in The Little Leaf  blog giveaway he is a beautiful little panda. I know I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

A Tribute to the 1960's

Does anyone remember the 1960's Troll dolls. I do, and I just love them.

My Grandmother used to collect them I guess in that way I take after her I love all things Ugly cute. I can remember we used to buy her a new Troll every Birthday, Mothers day and Christmas. Her collection was massive she had Trolls in every size and style imaginable it extended into every room.

I came across one of her smaller ones at my mothers a couple of months ago and it inspired me to create my Troll bears. This is my tribute to one the 1960's classics and my Beautiful Nana also a classic. I know she will be looking down at them with a smile, hope you like them too.

The Countdown has started !!

Time to dust off the decorations, check the bulbs in the lights and fluff the tree the countdown is on and it won't be long.

We need to get out the Christmas card list and check it twice, tick off the present list and see who's been naughty or nice because Santa is not far away.

Order the Christmas ham, prawns and turkey, check that there's enough gas in the barbie. Stock up on the usual assortment of nibbles and please don't forget a treat for Rover and Tiddles.

Practice your Carols and your Jolliest HO HO because there is not a lot of sleeps to go. So if your like me and work best under pressure pop over any time and check my Days to Go measure.

Introducing the Bush Nymphs !!

Life has been quite hectic since my last blog. I have been busy trying to get myself organised to travel to Victoria to attend theWoodend show on the 31st of Oct.

This will be the first time I have attended this show, getting more and more excited as it gets closer.

I found these frogs a couple of weeks ago in a small Newsagency and just had to buy them. I loved them so much I bought all they had. I could just see a Snugglepot and Cuddlepie kind of a bear on them. Sooo cute!! I thought I would share a sneak peak with you of the 2 new bears I have made using my frogs.

They are called  Bush Nymphs. There names are Angophora and Callistemon. Hope you like them.

Finally !!!

Hey there,
Thought it was time I finally got my butt into gear and updated my Blog (thanks Sandi).
Where to start!! there has been loads happening since my last blog.

I attended the Gold Coast show in June and as usual had a Great time. It would have to be one of my favourite shows very organised, very trader and consumer  friendly. The show was well attended and I very much enjoyed talking to the many Makers, Collectors and Traders. It's always nice to catch up with everyone and it's no secret I'm always up for a chat. I also participated in quite a bit of retail therapy because if you don't get it when you see it you won't have it when you need it (isn't that how it goes). This show is one I highly recommend you put in your diary as a must attend for next year. Thanks Patti and Graham for making us all feel special.

On a more personal note my youngest Grandchild  turned one last month, hard to believe they grow up so quick. She is walking (or should I say running) and has been for a couple of months. She has an ever growing vocabulary including Ama (this is the name all my grandchildren call me) which I am quite chuffed about. My Grandson  is now two and a half ( they are my Sons children) and my eldset Grandchild (my daughters Son ) will be 7 in October. Time goes so fast I'm sure it won't be long before I'm blogging about them getting there licence (scary)

By the way this is the first time I have done my blog myself  I usually write it out with pen and paper (the old fashioned way) and my Daughter does it all. Thought it was time I took the bull by the horns, take a deep breath and just do it. Not as bad as I thought a bit slow with the typing but proud of myself.

On that note I will say Goodnight and will try not to leave it too long before my next blog.
Will add a few photos of some of my latest creations soon.

 Cheers Lyn.

Sydney Teddy Bear Fair 2010

Hey There,

I attended the STBF on Sunday and had a great day (as usual).

The show was well attended and  I participated in much retail therapy, spending too much on yummy fur I just had to have.

I also thought I might share some of my favourite bears with you.

Bob and Marley

 Gaylian

Smokey and Trigger

The only down for the day happened on the way home. 15 mins from the venue I was rear ended by another car pushing me into the car in front. This resulted in the back of my car being caved right in and some minor damage to the front. NOT HAPPY JAN!!! At least everyone was OK (people and bears) so I guess I should be grateful for that.

My Poor Car

Anyway I didn't let it put a damper on my day.

On a happier note I was thrilled to find out my Rainbow Riders took out 1st place in the Diorama section of the STBF Competition. HOW EXCITING!!

Bye for now
Lyn

A New Year!

Hi There,

Happy New Year to all, hope your Christmas and New Year was a safe and happy one.

Well another year, more bears to make. Slowly getting started on new creations.

Recently I personally had a bit of a scare, on Boxing Day evening two of my fingers developed unbearable pain causing me not to be able to use my hand. It turned out I have a blood clot which is interfering with the circulation to my fingers. After many, many strong pain killers (I hate taking them, I lost a week I was so dopey from them) and some medication it is starting to dissolve, so fingers crossed I will be back to normal soon (I am going crazy not being able to work properly).

On a brighter note let me introduce you to the newest member of our family. Ralf, a 50kg, 4 1/2 year old, Mastiff x Great Dane. He is a very welcome addition to fill a very big gap in our lives from the passing of our 'Boof'. He is a big beautiful dope and fits our family like a glove.

Bear Hugs
Lyn
